Slide deck studio

Deckwright

Write Markdown, get an accessible slide deck — charts, diagrams, PDF, HTML and PowerPoint.

Launch Deckwright → Tutorials

Deckwright turns Markdown into clean slides: headings become slide titles, lists become bullets, CSV becomes charts and a few lines of text become flowcharts, sequence diagrams and mind maps. Present with speaker notes, a timer and a second window, check contrast, titles and alt text, and export a PDF with embedded fonts, a single-file HTML presentation or an editable PowerPoint file — all in your browser.

Features

  • Slides from Markdown

Separate slides with three dashes or just write an outline: every heading starts a slide. Lists, tables, quotes, code and images work as you expect.

  • Six own themes

Paper, Midnight, Harbor, Ember, Slate and High contrast — every colour pair is checked for contrast, in 16:9 or 4:3.

  • Charts from CSV

Paste a table into a chart block and get bar, line, area, pie, scatter or histogram charts with a written description and the data behind them.

  • Diagrams from text

Flowcharts, sequence diagrams and mind maps from a Mermaid-style text block, laid out automatically and kept as vector shapes.

  • Presenter view with timer

Current and next slide, speaker notes, elapsed and remaining time, and an audience window on the second screen that follows every click.

  • PDF with embedded fonts

Vector slides with searchable text and font subsets for Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Devanagari, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

  • Single-file HTML

One self-contained page with real headings, lists and tables, a presenter mode and its own strict security policy — no internet needed.

  • Editable PowerPoint

Real titles, text boxes, bullet levels, tables, pictures with alt text and speaker notes in a .pptx for PowerPoint, Keynote, Impress or Google Slides.

  • Accessibility check

Contrast, slide titles, alternative text, reading order, link texts, language and text size — each finding names the slide and the WCAG rule.

  • Right-to-left slides

Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Urdu decks are mirrored: text, bullets, tables and columns run from the right, with proper Arabic shaping.

  • Images with alt text

Drop pictures into the deck; they stay in your browser, keep their pixels in the PDF and carry their description into HTML and PowerPoint.

  • Projects, history and sharing

Autosave with recent decks, undo and redo, project files with images, Google Drive, and share links that leave out notes and images.

  • Three tools for AI agents

Markdown to PDF and HTML, Markdown to PowerPoint and the accessibility check as tools with a JSON API and MCP, on the same engine as the app.

Templates

Built-in tools

Deckwright uses these tools. Each one also has its own page and works on its own, in the browser, through the JSON API and through MCP.

For AI agents

Deckwright runs on a deterministic engine. The same functions are available as tools with a JSON API and MCP, so scripts and AI agents get exactly the results the app shows.

  • Markdown to Slides (PDF and HTML) – Turn Markdown into a clean slide deck — PDF with embedded fonts and a single-file HTML presentation.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know Markdown?

A little: # for a title, - for a bullet, three dashes for a new slide. The templates show everything else, and the editor’s Insert menu adds charts, diagrams, tables and images for you.

Will my slides look the same in PowerPoint?

Very close. Deckwright places every title, text box, table and picture on the same spot as in the PDF. PowerPoint uses its own line breaking and may substitute the font if Noto Sans is not installed, so a long line can wrap differently. Charts and diagrams are pictures in the PPTX.

How does the presenter view work?

Open it from the Present menu. It shows the current and next slide, your notes and a timer. “Open audience window” opens a second window for the projector; both stay in step through your browser, nothing goes over the internet.

Are my slides uploaded?

No. The deck is made and exported in your browser and saved in this browser. Only share links carry the deck text (without notes and images), and only if you send them.

What does the accessibility check look at?

Contrast of every colour pair of the theme, a title on every slide, unique titles, alternative text for images, charts and diagrams, the reading order, link texts, the deck language and text that is too small or does not fit. It cannot judge whether a description is accurate.

Which languages can I write slides in?

Any language written with Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic, Hebrew (direction only), Devanagari, Chinese, Japanese or Korean script. Arabic letters are joined and right-to-left decks are mirrored. Chinese, Japanese and Korean use font subsets with the everyday characters.

Can an AI agent make slides with Deckwright?

Yes. Three tools take Markdown through the JSON API and MCP and return the PDF, HTML or PowerPoint file, an accessibility report and a link that opens the deck here for editing.

Limitations

What Deckwright does not do (yet):

  • One font weight: bold text and links are shown in the accent colour in the PDF and PNG; HTML and PowerPoint keep real bold and italic.
  • Code blocks use the proportional slide font in the PDF and PNG (monospaced in HTML and PowerPoint), and long code lines are cut, not wrapped.
  • Charts and diagrams are pictures in the PowerPoint file, not editable PowerPoint charts; the PPTX does not embed fonts.
  • Chinese, Japanese and Korean fonts cover everyday characters (GB 2312, JIS X 0208 and KS X 1001 level 1); rarer characters fall back to a basic font in the PDF and are reported.
  • Images from web addresses are not downloaded; add image files instead. Animations, transitions, video and audio are not supported.
  • Hebrew has no embedded font yet: Hebrew text is laid out right to left but prints with a basic fallback font in the PDF.
